I choose Heather because she gives the right amount of aggressive persistence that is needed to achieve results from the district.

October 6, 2026

I was so glad that I found Heather Knickerbocker!! Life saver!!! I searched for an advocate for a while. But Heather puts fear in the hearts of the staff that have not been providing. I choose Heather because she gives the right amount of aggressive persistence that is needed to achieve results from the district. She knows the law so very well. In a meeting she caught on the fly – the district tried to make me sign and back date a paper and she said no we will not be signing and back dating this should have been provided at a previous meeting. I only trust Heathers help regarding dealing with the school I’ve gone years with issues it’s been a relief to finally get headway all because of Heather!!

Having someone with Heather’s expertise can make a tremendous difference.

September 29, 2026

Heather is incredibly knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. What I appreciate most is her ability to understand both the parent’s perspective and the perspective of educators and school teams. She helps parents feel informed and confident while encouraging collaboration and keeping the focus on what is best for the child.

Sometimes you may simply need someone to review an IEP and make sure it accurately reflects your child’s needs, or a second set of experienced eyes to make sure you haven’t overlooked something over the years. Having someone with Heather’s expertise can make a tremendous difference. She can help you understand your options, communicate your concerns, and work toward bringing the team together.

Heather has helped us better understand and advocate for our child’s rights and services. Her guidance and validation have been an invaluable resource for our family.

**An Exceptional Advocate Who Truly Fights for Children and Families**

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Heather Knickerbocker and the advocacy she provided for my daughter and our family.

For approximately six months, Heather stood beside us through an extremely difficult situation involving my daughter’s education, placement, and treatment at her school. She attended virtual meetings with us, communicated through countless emails, helped us understand our rights and options, and most importantly, she was **not afraid to speak up and hold the school accountable.**

Heather was knowledgeable, firm, professional, and incredibly persistent. She knew what questions to ask, what needed to be addressed, and when it was time to push harder. She advocated directly with school leadership, the school board, and the superintendent, and she made sure our concerns could not simply be brushed aside.

What meant the most to me was knowing that I wasn’t navigating this alone. Heather gave me confidence when I was frustrated, helped me advocate more effectively for my daughter, and consistently kept the focus where it belonged: **on my daughter’s educational needs, well-being, and right to be treated appropriately.**

Ultimately, the school acknowledged the concerns that had been raised and provided a resolution to the matter. Heather’s advocacy played an important role in helping us get to that point.

I am incredibly grateful for her knowledge, courage, professionalism, and willingness to stand firm when it mattered. We will be utilizing Heather’s advocacy again as we take the next steps in this matter, and I have complete confidence in having her in our corner.

If you are a parent who feels unheard, overwhelmed, or unsure how to navigate the education system, **I highly recommend Heather Knickerbocker.** She doesn’t just listen—she learns the situation, understands the issues, and **advocates.**

Thank you, Heather, for standing with my daughter and me when we needed it most. Your work truly makes a difference. ❤️

I truly cannot say enough good things

September 18, 2026

I truly cannot say enough good things about Heather Knickerbocker, M.A., Ed.S., M.S.L., Education Advocate and what she has done for my son and our family.

I found Heather during a time when I was frustrated, overwhelmed, and honestly felt like I was fighting a battle with my son’s school district that I didn’t know how to fight on my own. I knew in my heart that my son deserved more and that his needs were not being fully met, but navigating IEPs, special education laws, and the school system as a parent can be incredibly intimidating.

Then I found Heather—and everything changed.

She listened to me, took my concerns seriously, and made me feel like I finally had someone in my corner who not only understood what my son needed, but knew exactly how to advocate for it. Once Heather became involved, the conversation with the school district changed very quickly.

What means the most to me is that she didn’t stop at resolving the issue I originally hired her for. Heather took the time to really look at my son’s IEP and discovered gaps that I didn’t even know were there. She helped me understand what my son was entitled to, what questions I needed to ask, and how we could build a better plan around who he is and what he needs to succeed.

Since making those changes, the progress I have seen in my son has been incredible. As his mom, seeing him finally receive the support he needs and watching him make progress means more to me than I can put into words.

Heather didn’t just help me navigate a difficult situation with a school district—she helped me become a stronger, more informed advocate for my own child. That is something I will carry with me for the rest of his education.

If you are a parent of a special needs child and you feel lost, overwhelmed, unheard, or you simply have that gut feeling that your child isn’t receiving everything they need, please reach out to Heather. Having someone like her in your corner can make such a difference.

I will forever be grateful that I found her and for the difference she has made in my son’s life and in our family.

Real MVP!

September 18, 2026

Real MVP! Sometimes it can feel like the school system is working against parents, especially when we are trying to navigate the many acronyms, procedures, and laws involved in special education.

It can be incredibly overwhelming to sit in a meeting where everyone is using terminology you do not fully understand, while deep down you know that what is being discussed does not seem to match what your child actually needs. Parents may raise concerns or request additional support and sometimes walk away feeling redirected, dismissed, confused, or unsure whether they were truly heard. Even when that is not anyone’s intention, the process itself can feel intimidating and difficult to navigate without someone who understands it.

As a mother of multiple neurodivergent children with complex needs, I am extremely grateful that people like Heather work in this field. She provides clarity to families like mine and helps parents understand what the paperwork actually means, what questions need to be asked, what documentation matters, and how to stand firm while advocating for the supports a child needs.

Having someone knowledgeable beside you can make such a difference when you know something is not right for your child but do not yet have the language, knowledge, or understanding of special education law to explain why.

This work is incredibly important because these decisions affect more than what happens in the classroom today. They can influence a child’s education, development, future opportunities, and, for some children, the level of independence they may be able to achieve later in life.

I am very grateful to have someone who understands the process and helps families advocate in a knowledgeable, organized, and effective way.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Heather to any family navigating the special education process and looking for an advocate who truly cares about children and the parents fighting for them every day.

June 23, 2026

After just one meeting with Heather, I knew I had finally found someone who truly understood what our family was going through.

As a parent of a child with an IEP, I’ve spent countless hours advocating for my son, often feeling like I was fighting an uphill battle on my own. IEP meetings are supposed to be a team effort, but for the first time, I genuinely felt like someone besides myself was standing up for my child and making sure his voice and needs mattered.

Even though Heather did much of the talking during our meeting, she never made me feel dismissed. Instead, I finally felt heard. I felt supported. She validated my concerns, helped me understand the process, and brought a level of knowledge, confidence, and compassion that immediately put me at ease.

Navigating the school system can be overwhelming and isolating, especially when you’re trying to ensure your child receives the services and support they deserve. Heather reminded me that I don’t have to do it alone.

I left our first meeting feeling empowered, hopeful, and grateful to have someone in our corner. I would wholeheartedly recommend Heather to any family navigating the special education process and looking for an advocate who truly cares about children and the parents fighting for them every day.

Working with Heather Knickerbocker has truly been one of the best investments I have made in my child’s education

April 23, 2026

Working with Heather Knickerbocker has truly been one of the best investments I have made in my child’s education. She is very responsive and strategic, and her support has helped me navigate the Texas special education process with much more clarity and confidence. I have also purchased her books, and they have been incredibly helpful in understanding both the parent side and the school district side of the process.

One of the things I value most is that her guidance comes from real experience. She has worked as a teacher, in special education, and has advanced training in special education law. That gives her a perspective that is both practical and informed.

Heather’s books have helped me better understand evidence collection, records review, communication patterns, and how to prepare concerns and complaints in a more organized and effective way. She has also been an excellent sounding board when issues arise suddenly, and I need help thinking through the best next step.

Most importantly, her guidance has not only made me a stronger advocate for my child but has also positively impacted my child’s confidence, support, and overall educational journey. THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU DO, HEATHER!!

Heather didn’t just guide me—she partnered with me.

March 24, 2026

As a parent, there are moments when you feel overwhelmed, unheard, and unsure of how to protect your child, especially when it comes to their safety and well-being at school. That’s exactly where I found myself, and that’s when Heather stepped in.

From the very beginning, Heather didn’t just offer guidance, she showed up with compassion, understanding, and a level of dedication that made me feel like I wasn’t alone anymore. She helped me navigate the ARD process for my son, especially around serious concerns involving safety and bullying, and she did so with both expertise and heart.

Heather didn’t just guide me—she partnered with me. She helped me organize everything, understand my rights, and confidently advocate for my child. What truly set her apart was that she continued to check in and support me beyond the formal process. It never felt transactional—it felt genuine.

Because of Heather, I walked into those meetings stronger, prepared, and no longer alone. I am a more confident advocate because of her.

If you’re a parent facing a difficult situation, especially involving your child’s safety, I highly recommend Heather. She doesn’t just know the system—she stands with you in it.

I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to describing what this advocate has meant to our family

March 19, 2026

I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to describing what this advocate has meant to our family.

For the last two months, she has fought for our child with a level of dedication that I didn’t even know existed. Late nights, early mornings, weekends — there was never a moment where she wasn’t working, strategizing, or standing beside us as we navigated a system that often felt impossible for me to take on alone.

When we felt overwhelmed, she grounded us. When we felt defeated, she reminded us what our child is legally and morally entitled to. And when a system that should protect children instead failed them, she helped us tear it down to the studs and demand the federal special education compliance our child deserves.

But what makes her truly extraordinary isn’t just her knowledge of the law or her relentless advocacy — it’s her heart. She cares about these kids in a way that goes far beyond a job. She became a safe landing place for our family during one of the most difficult seasons we’ve ever faced.

There is truly no one I would have trusted more to stand beside us in this fight.

If you are reading this and even considering hiring her, let this be your sign to do it. The investment is worth every single penny — and honestly, it doesn’t even compare to the care, integrity, and relentless commitment she brings to protecting our kids.

Our family will be forever grateful.

Heather has been an absolute godsend.

March 18, 2026

Heather has been an absolute godsend. Her knowledge, expertise, and advocacy have helped me navigate the IEP process and ensure that the school is held accountable for providing the appropriate accommodations, setting, and support for my three children.

Because of her dedication and understanding of the system, she successfully advocated for compensatory services for my children when they were needed. Heather truly knows what she’s doing, and it is clear that she genuinely cares about the well-being and success of the children she supports.

I am forever grateful for her guidance, persistence, and the difference she has made for my family.

I had an excellent experience working with Heather. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the IEP process and took the time to truly understand my child’s needs. Her guidance helped us develop a thoughtful, thorough, and well-structured IEP that feels tailored specifically to support my child’s success. She was professional, supportive, and made what can be an overwhelming process much easier to navigate. I’m very grateful for her expertise and would highly recommend her to any parent needing help advocating for their child’s education.

Heather Knickerbocker is the kind of advocate you hope you never need and the one you are grateful and blessed to have when everything is on the line.

February 24, 2026

Heather Knickerbocker is the kind of advocate you hope you never need and the one you are grateful and blessed to have when everything is on the line. Parents approach special education in good faith. Districts function within procedural systems and compliance frameworks. At a certain point, you realize you need more than participation you need presence. Someone steady, strategic, and unafraid to assert the law when necessary.

Our family was thrown into everything you hear about but hope never happens to your child improper assessments, failure to initiate approved IEEs, nondisclosures through Prior Written Notice, unexplained eligibility shifts, IEP development without parental participation, and procedural breakdowns that began at the district level and filtered into the classroom. What followed were months of delay, silence, and resistance, culminating in traumatic incidents that deeply affected our son.

When district counsel approaches and began mirroring her language in their responses. That was the moment we understood the caliber and capacity of advocate we were working with. It is not simply her knowledge of special education law it is her command of the entire regulatory framework that governs it. She does not merely reference statutes; she applies them fluently, strategically, and in real time. Her mastery extends beyond IDEA to state, and federal education codes, procedural safeguards, compliance obligations, assessment standards, eligibility criteria, and case-driven precedent.

She understands how the law functions operationally within districts not just what it says on paper. Her years as an educator, advanced professional credentials, multiple advanced degrees are not ornamental credentials; they are operational expertise. She reads data as a seasoned teacher, analyzes reports like a forensic analyst, and compliance specialist, and navigates meetings with authority and composure. She anticipates district tactics before they unfold.

We live in Ventura County, California. Heather is based out of Miami, Florida. Time differences have never prevented her from promptly acknowledging texts, calls, or emails. Heather is a multi-state advocate who manages cases across jurisdictions, but what distinguishes her is precision. Despite handling both routine and highly complex matters, she operates with a level of organization and responsiveness that never leaves a parent uncertain. She acknowledges, triages, and responds with intention.

If you are navigating eligibility disputes, procedural violations, trauma-related concerns, assessment failures, or a district that appears to delay and deflect, comprehensive triennial evaluations, to annual, emergency IEP developments, you need Heather to step in immediately, stabilize the situation, and assert control of the process.

We are deeply blessed, and grateful for her advocacy, her discipline, her clarity, and her unwavering commitment to our child. Her commitment is unwavering and resolute; when the rights of children with disabilities are challenged, she stands firm and does not yield.

Heather stepped in and immediately shifted the entire dynamic.

February 24, 2026

When my daughter was wrongly placed in IEP classes due to the school’s mistake, she experienced humiliation and retaliation instead of accountability.

Heather stepped in and immediately shifted the entire dynamic. She came prepared, stood firm in front of the school board, and refused to let the issue be minimized or covered up. She does not play games.

Heather fights. She protects. She prioritizes the educational well-being of our children at all times. We are incredibly grateful she is still working with our family and advocating for what is right.

We love you!!!

She was my voice when i felt I didn’t have one.

February 21, 2026

Im a mother of a 6 year old boy who’s on the spectrum. I felt I needed support properly advocating for my son’s educational needs. I reached out to Mrs. Knickerbocker and I was so happy I did. She didn’t disappoint. She was my voice when i felt I didn’t have one. She pointed out things that needed attention and she made sure to advocate those things, and when we got push back, she was not intimidated and did not backdown which is probably the parents feel the need for extra support. She opened my eyes to the importance of having an advocate for additional support and someone who has the expertise and background in education. Forever grateful for her!

I would recommend Heather to any parent for big or small issues where a child and family going through the 504 or IEP process.

February 21, 2026

Heather assisted with two of my children’s IEPs after we moved states and one of our children lost services, and the other was inappropriately moved from an IEP to a 504. She is engaged, knowledgeable, supportive and expertly navigates the meetings to achieve the best for children. Several school staff members quietly told me that she is one of the best advocates they’ve experienced to provide to another parent. School teachers can be in a funny middle position in these meetings. They often have any to support their students, but have administrative pressure (ie their bosses) silencing them. Heather has a subtle, but direct way of bringing out the teachers and parents input, citing federal legalities so that administration has to do the right thing.

I would recommend Heather to any parent for big or small issues where a child and family going through the 504 or IEP process.

My son was having trouble in school

October 18, 2025

My son was having trouble in school dealing with bullies, and the school staff was not being helpful. Not even the assistant principal was assisting my son during the situation. Feeling lost, I reached out to Heather Knickerbocker at Your Education Advocates, and she was able to inform us of our rights and how to handle the situation. Thanks to Heather, we were able to address the issue and receive the fair treatment we deserved. Heather was informative, very friendly, and stood up for us when we needed it most.
