From day one of her advocating she has knocked it out of the park.
I’ve follow Heather in her FB group for a year now and have picked up a number of IEP tips. I said to myself if I ever needed an education advocate Heather will be the person I hire! Well that day came sooner than later this year and I immediately reached out to Heather to decide on the package to select. From day one of her advocating she has knocked it out of the park. Working with Heather Knickerbocker has truly been one of the best investments I have made in my child’s education
Working with Heather Knickerbocker has truly been one of the best investments I have made in my child’s education. She is very responsive and strategic, and her support has helped me navigate the Texas special education process with much more clarity and confidence. I have also purchased her books, and they have been incredibly helpful in understanding both the parent side and the school district side of the process.
One of the things I value most is that her guidance comes from real experience. She has worked as a teacher, in special education, and has advanced training in special education law. That gives her a perspective that is both practical and informed.
Heather’s books have helped me better understand evidence collection, records review, communication patterns, and how to prepare concerns and complaints in a more organized and effective way. She has also been an excellent sounding board when issues arise suddenly, and I need help thinking through the best next step.
Most importantly, her guidance has not only made me a stronger advocate for my child but has also positively impacted my child’s confidence, support, and overall educational journey. THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU DO, HEATHER!!
Heather didn’t just guide me—she partnered with me.
As a parent, there are moments when you feel overwhelmed, unheard, and unsure of how to protect your child, especially when it comes to their safety and well-being at school. That’s exactly where I found myself, and that’s when Heather stepped in.
From the very beginning, Heather didn’t just offer guidance, she showed up with compassion, understanding, and a level of dedication that made me feel like I wasn’t alone anymore. She helped me navigate the ARD process for my son, especially around serious concerns involving safety and bullying, and she did so with both expertise and heart.
Heather didn’t just guide me—she partnered with me. She helped me organize everything, understand my rights, and confidently advocate for my child. What truly set her apart was that she continued to check in and support me beyond the formal process. It never felt transactional—it felt genuine.
Because of Heather, I walked into those meetings stronger, prepared, and no longer alone. I am a more confident advocate because of her.
If you’re a parent facing a difficult situation, especially involving your child’s safety, I highly recommend Heather. She doesn’t just know the system—she stands with you in it.
I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to describing what this advocate has meant to our family
I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to describing what this advocate has meant to our family.
For the last two months, she has fought for our child with a level of dedication that I didn’t even know existed. Late nights, early mornings, weekends — there was never a moment where she wasn’t working, strategizing, or standing beside us as we navigated a system that often felt impossible for me to take on alone.
When we felt overwhelmed, she grounded us. When we felt defeated, she reminded us what our child is legally and morally entitled to. And when a system that should protect children instead failed them, she helped us tear it down to the studs and demand the federal special education compliance our child deserves.
But what makes her truly extraordinary isn’t just her knowledge of the law or her relentless advocacy — it’s her heart. She cares about these kids in a way that goes far beyond a job. She became a safe landing place for our family during one of the most difficult seasons we’ve ever faced.
There is truly no one I would have trusted more to stand beside us in this fight.
If you are reading this and even considering hiring her, let this be your sign to do it. The investment is worth every single penny — and honestly, it doesn’t even compare to the care, integrity, and relentless commitment she brings to protecting our kids.
Our family will be forever grateful.
Heather has been an absolute godsend.
Heather has been an absolute godsend. Her knowledge, expertise, and advocacy have helped me navigate the IEP process and ensure that the school is held accountable for providing the appropriate accommodations, setting, and support for my three children.
Because of her dedication and understanding of the system, she successfully advocated for compensatory services for my children when they were needed. Heather truly knows what she’s doing, and it is clear that she genuinely cares about the well-being and success of the children she supports.
I am forever grateful for her guidance, persistence, and the difference she has made for my family.
I had an excellent experience working with Heather.
I had an excellent experience working with Heather. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the IEP process and took the time to truly understand my child’s needs. Her guidance helped us develop a thoughtful, thorough, and well-structured IEP that feels tailored specifically to support my child’s success. She was professional, supportive, and made what can be an overwhelming process much easier to navigate. I’m very grateful for her expertise and would highly recommend her to any parent needing help advocating for their child’s education.
Heather Knickerbocker is the kind of advocate you hope you never need and the one you are grateful and blessed to have when everything is on the line.
Heather Knickerbocker is the kind of advocate you hope you never need and the one you are grateful and blessed to have when everything is on the line. Parents approach special education in good faith. Districts function within procedural systems and compliance frameworks. At a certain point, you realize you need more than participation you need presence. Someone steady, strategic, and unafraid to assert the law when necessary.
Our family was thrown into everything you hear about but hope never happens to your child improper assessments, failure to initiate approved IEEs, nondisclosures through Prior Written Notice, unexplained eligibility shifts, IEP development without parental participation, and procedural breakdowns that began at the district level and filtered into the classroom. What followed were months of delay, silence, and resistance, culminating in traumatic incidents that deeply affected our son.
When district counsel approaches and began mirroring her language in their responses. That was the moment we understood the caliber and capacity of advocate we were working with. It is not simply her knowledge of special education law it is her command of the entire regulatory framework that governs it. She does not merely reference statutes; she applies them fluently, strategically, and in real time. Her mastery extends beyond IDEA to state, and federal education codes, procedural safeguards, compliance obligations, assessment standards, eligibility criteria, and case-driven precedent.
She understands how the law functions operationally within districts not just what it says on paper. Her years as an educator, advanced professional credentials, multiple advanced degrees are not ornamental credentials; they are operational expertise. She reads data as a seasoned teacher, analyzes reports like a forensic analyst, and compliance specialist, and navigates meetings with authority and composure. She anticipates district tactics before they unfold.
We live in Ventura County, California. Heather is based out of Miami, Florida. Time differences have never prevented her from promptly acknowledging texts, calls, or emails. Heather is a multi-state advocate who manages cases across jurisdictions, but what distinguishes her is precision. Despite handling both routine and highly complex matters, she operates with a level of organization and responsiveness that never leaves a parent uncertain. She acknowledges, triages, and responds with intention.
If you are navigating eligibility disputes, procedural violations, trauma-related concerns, assessment failures, or a district that appears to delay and deflect, comprehensive triennial evaluations, to annual, emergency IEP developments, you need Heather to step in immediately, stabilize the situation, and assert control of the process.
We are deeply blessed, and grateful for her advocacy, her discipline, her clarity, and her unwavering commitment to our child. Her commitment is unwavering and resolute; when the rights of children with disabilities are challenged, she stands firm and does not yield.

The Mosqueda Family
Heather stepped in and immediately shifted the entire dynamic.
When my daughter was wrongly placed in IEP classes due to the school’s mistake, she experienced humiliation and retaliation instead of accountability.
Heather stepped in and immediately shifted the entire dynamic. She came prepared, stood firm in front of the school board, and refused to let the issue be minimized or covered up. She does not play games.
Heather fights. She protects. She prioritizes the educational well-being of our children at all times. We are incredibly grateful she is still working with our family and advocating for what is right.
We love you!!!

She was my voice when i felt I didn’t have one.
Im a mother of a 6 year old boy who’s on the spectrum. I felt I needed support properly advocating for my son’s educational needs. I reached out to Mrs. Knickerbocker and I was so happy I did. She didn’t disappoint. She was my voice when i felt I didn’t have one. She pointed out things that needed attention and she made sure to advocate those things, and when we got push back, she was not intimidated and did not backdown which is probably the parents feel the need for extra support. She opened my eyes to the importance of having an advocate for additional support and someone who has the expertise and background in education. Forever grateful for her!
I would recommend Heather to any parent for big or small issues where a child and family going through the 504 or IEP process.
Heather assisted with two of my children’s IEPs after we moved states and one of our children lost services, and the other was inappropriately moved from an IEP to a 504. She is engaged, knowledgeable, supportive and expertly navigates the meetings to achieve the best for children. Several school staff members quietly told me that she is one of the best advocates they’ve experienced to provide to another parent. School teachers can be in a funny middle position in these meetings. They often have any to support their students, but have administrative pressure (ie their bosses) silencing them. Heather has a subtle, but direct way of bringing out the teachers and parents input, citing federal legalities so that administration has to do the right thing.
I would recommend Heather to any parent for big or small issues where a child and family going through the 504 or IEP process.
Good plan for my son
Thank you so much for your help! Today was my ARD and it was 2 hours long. I asked tons and tons of questions and I got out with a good plan for my son.
Mrs. Knickerbocker as our child’s advocate
We searched for months before deciding on Mrs. Knickerbocker as our child’s advocate. We could not be happier with the outcome. We are definitely keeping her around for the transition to middle school.
My son was having trouble in school
My son was having trouble in school dealing with bullies, and the school staff was not being helpful. Not even the assistant principal was assisting my son during the situation. Feeling lost, I reached out to Heather Knickerbocker at Your Education Advocates, and she was able to inform us of our rights and how to handle the situation. Thanks to Heather, we were able to address the issue and receive the fair treatment we deserved. Heather was informative, very friendly, and stood up for us when we needed it most.
